How It Works

You appoint us by signing our Appointment Letter and completing the Doctors’ Choice Insurance Information Form. For further details, please see our Financial Services Guide (FSG). To Sign Up now, please visit our Sign Up page.

We provide obligation-free, tailored advice at no cost and we do the leg work for you.

Once we receive your completed documents, we get to work on analysing your needs and risks so we can provide you with tailored advice. Our advice is obligation-free; as our name suggests, we help you make informed choices.

Our recommendation may be to remain with your current medical indemnity insurer.

If our recommendation is to change medical indemnity insurer, we provide you with a completed Application Form, together with a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Policy Wording, from the insurer whose product we are recommending. If you wish to go ahead with our recommendation and switch insurer, you check, sign and return the Application Form to us and we submit it to the insurer.

Once your application is approved, you pay your new insurer directly and written confirmation of your new cover is sent to us for checking.

To ensure there are no gaps in your cover, we wait for confirmation that your new insurance is in place before we arrange for the cancellation of your previous insurance policy. Most importantly, we also prompt you to notify any unreported matters to your previous insurer prior to cancelling that policy.

Whether we recommend you change insurer or stay with your current provider, you now have the confidence of knowing your policy coverage and corresponding premium is the right one for you.

Renewal advice

We don’t simply provide a one-off, “set and forget” service. We systematically review developments in the medical indemnity industry in general and the specific product offerings of the Australian doctor-owned medical indemnity insurance providers throughout the insurance year. We contact you prior to your annual insurance renewal with our obligation-free renewal recommendation.

Advice when you notify changes to your professional circumstances

We analyse the impact of the change on your medical indemnity insurance and make appropriate recommendations to you. We then do the legwork on any changes required to your current policy.

Claims

You deal directly with your medical indemnity insurer in relation to claims. However, in the unlikely event of a dispute with the insurer in relation to your claim, we are here to help you with lodging a complaint.
